Theme NEW ENGLAND

A few of our sims are "themed". This means, that residents owning or renting land in those sims have to conform to a small set of building rules in addition to the Covenant. These rules are not there to torture our fellow Otherlanders but to preserve an overall style in the sim (usually the style that initially attracted people to the sim at first).

The following regions on The OUTERLAND Archipelago are styled in the Theme "New England" (while the name can be taken with a grain of salt; we allow a rather diverse set of architectural styles there):

  • Bailey Island
  • Chebeage Islands
  • Cliff Island
  • Cushing Island
  • Goose Islands
  • Jewell Island
  • Orrs Islands
  • Ridley Cove
  • Peaks Island
  • Whaleboat Islands

Living and building on a sim with this theme means:

  • Buildings have to feature predominantly wooden structures on the outside. Victorian style is acceptable, as are typical New England style buildings and low slung houses in with reed roofs, like you can find them in Wales, Ireland, Northern Germany and similar areas.
  • No "contemporary modern" houses of steel and glass, no medieval castles, skyscrapers, no tree houses.
  • Houses should be only one or two story buildings. Story height should not be more than 7m. This means houses can't be taller than 14m.
  • If there are prim based structures on the parcel, please don't remove, delete or return them. If you feel, you can not live with such a structure (rock, boardwalk, pier ..) please talk to an estate manager.
  • The parcels should not be deforrested. Either the initial vegetation has to stay in place (usually needle trees, oak trees, ferns, some cypress trees, birches) or some vegetation in a similar style has to be replaced after building. We will gladly supply you with automated tree seeds that make it very easy to rebuild some vegetation. You can add your own vegetation, of course, but it should "fit" in style with the initial one. (No palms, cacti or tropical flowers for example.)
  • No flying structures in the air below 400m. This means buildings. Eagles, seagulls and doves are welcome! :)

That's it. The OTHERLAND Covenant is applicable too, of course. Nothing to serious, we hope. But if you simply can not live with these rules ... we have a lot of other areas available on the OUTERLAND Archipelago that are not themed at all.
